Glossybox | November 2014

Hello My Lovelies,

I hope you are all doing well and have had an incredible weekend! I worked all weekend but I must say it has completely flown by which has left me with no time at all to do anything a. A little update on what I've been doing...I actually got some amazing new on Friday that I got a job that I applied for! I am still very overwhelmed by it all and I am thinking about writing a more personal post about it as I really pushed myself. I still can't believe little ol' me is a 'Marketing Executive'...eeep!

Firstly, I wanted to ask how have you been liking my photos in my last few posts? We are having developments done at home and I haven't been able to whip out all of my fancy new lighting (they are still in their boxes) so I have resulted to using the spotlight lighting in my current bedroom. I hope I can work around it as I really miss the natural lighting from the summer! I think I am such a perfectionist that I just want to make sure everything looks good haha.

So I diverged as usual so back into today's post! I thought I would bring you this months Glossybox. Harvey Nichols launched their special edition box (review here) at the beginning of the month so I was rather excited to see what they included in this months box. From first glance I have to say there are some great products in here from brands I know and love but also from some great new brands.

This was a completely new brand to me but that is what I love about subscription boxes and being introduced to new products. This is an oil-free moisture gel that is said to deliver deep hydration while minimising the appearance of fine lines. H20+ say you could even pop it into the refrigerator for a few hours before application for an even more refreshing affect. I feel this would be a product that you would need to use for a little while before being able to reap the rewards, however, I have to say it is such a refreshing product to apply to the face...especially after a scrub or intense face mask.

Burt's Bees are one of my favourite lip products! My lips are so cracks and sore at the moment with the weather change so I know this will definitely come in handy, especially whilst working. Like everything else the Lip Shines are 100% natural with a sheer colour that is enriched with moisturising Apricot wax which glides onto the lips for a sweet and super shiny finish. This Blush shade is the perfect colour for me, especially for a quick wash of colour during the week when you can't be bothered to do much else with your makeup (haha guilty) the lips save everything!

Yet again this was a completely new product for me to try. This MONU Skincare Refining Capri Facial Oil is described as an invigorating facial oil to balance oily skin and decongest pores to ensure breakouts remain a thing of the past. It has a lovely lemony aromatherapy scent which is great for the evenings if you want to relax and unwind. MONU recommend this product for both the morning and evenings or even used as an intensive treatment instead of a night cream. Facial oils are still something I rarely use, however, I have to say that a little goes a long way with this one and it doesn't leave a greasy look behind.

Firstly, how cute is the packaging and the name?! At first glance this literally reminded me of something from Too Faced. This was another completely new brand to me but I think I am in love already. This retractable pencil provides a deep colour finish with a long-lasting result. I contains Vitamin E with anti-aging and anti-radical action. Use the turning mechanism to draw a precise line which could be blended out with a brush or fingertips for a smokey finish. The formula is extremely pigmented and creamy which makes it the ultimate dupe for the Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-On Pencils.

Umberto Gianni is a brand I have tried many times, however this was a new product for me. This miracle worker uses age-old beauty ingredients that instantly and visibly transforms even the most dry and frizzy hair. I am excited to give this a proper try and I have high hopes that it will help my hair during these cold, wet and miserable days we are currently having. I love how we received a full sized product and I have to say the packaging is pretty chic. Also, if you are not keen on using hair oil straight on your hair this would make a great alternative...especially if you are a newbie to hair oils and want to give something quick and easy a try.

I was pleasantly surprised to see a £20 voucher for 'Best Secret' included in the box. They must have been keeping their website a complete secret as this was the first time I had ever heard of them previously. At first glance they do look extremely similar to Secret Sales here in the UK, however, there are a few differences in products and sales etc. I decided to give them a try and use my £20 voucher...there was a minimum spend before it was redeemable, however, I decided to just got for it. Overall, I am still in two mind about the website. Yes, I picked up a few bargains but I was a little disappointed that some of the items did not come in their original packaging etc. If you have used the website before I would love to hear of your experiences and feedback.

I hope you all enjoyed today's post and taking a peek inside this months Glossybox. What do you think? This is my second Glossybox review for you all and I have to say I am very pleased. I was introduced to a load of new brands and products which is always a bonus. Out of the five products there were 3 full size and only 2 samples...not bad. In total this months box works out a little over £38 which means you are getting three times more of your moneys worth, plus that is not including the £20 voucher. Just like the Harvey Nichols box I really like how they have included a mixture of makeup, skincare and haircare products. Keeping in with my Christmas Gift Guide theme I personally think that a subscription like Glossybox would make the perfect gift for any beauty addict! Like always lovelies, if you have any questions, requests or if you just want a chat you can contact me on my social media or leave me a comment below. I love hearing from you all and I make sure to read every single comment…they really make my day!

La Roche-Posay Pigmentclar Eye & Serum

Hello My Lovelies,

I hope you are all doing well? I seriously cannot believe that December is almost upon us and Christmas is under a month away! I have posted a few Christmas Gift Guide posts for you all but I still have plenty more on the way so make sure to keep checking back. Today I thought I would bring you a brand new release from La Roche-Posay; their Pigmentclar duo for eyes and face. I have only ever tried one other La Roche-Posay product in the past (review here) and I have to say they live up to the high standards everyone is constantly raving about.

A little bit behind the brand before we hop into this post! A public utility since 1897, the thermal spring water from La Roche-Posay (Western France), naturally antioxidant, soothes and softens the skin with a unique concentration of selenium. Its clinically proven results have made it today, the top European centre of thermion dermatology. For over 40 years La Roche-Posay have worked with dermatologists throughout the world to invent skincare and makeup that meet their needs and requirements. The formulas are paraben-free, fragrance-free and hypoallergenic which means they have no added nasties etc. Established in 1995, La Roche-Posay has awarded more than 100 fellowships for dermatology research on four continents. The brand is also engaged, in partnership with dermatologists, in several awareness campaigns on the prevention of skin cancer.

The La Roche-Posay Pigmentclar eye and serum have been designed to target dark spots and uneven skin tone for a more luminous complexion. One thing I definitely lack within my skincare collection is eye products so I did get quite excited when I was given he opportunity to try this product. My sleeping patterns have been everywhere lately so I was really able to put this to the test and see how well it works. This product claims to brighten and illuminate tired eyes and significantly reduce the appearance of dark circles. Pigmentclar Eyes is the latest innovation from the renowned French Pharmacy brand La Roche-Posay, repressing their first corrective eye care product specifically targeting dark and tired looking eyes. The lightweight formula has been created with the patented Pigmentclar complex, which works to visibly reduce brown under eye circles caused by excess melanin production, and a high caffeine concentration to reduce the appearance of blue circles caused by a sluggish circulation. An infusion of light-reflecting pigments work alongside nourishing ingredients to instantly brighten and illuminate eyes, ensuring they look vibrant and healthy. Sounds pretty good right?!

After trying this product for the first time I literally got hooked. It has a gentle, melting texture that refreshes and soothes the delicate eye contours, evening out and smoothing away any lines and imperfections to reveal radiant skin. Unlike most eye creams I have tried the formulation has an almost light peach colour which I believe helps instantly transform your eyes after application. Also, I love the fact that it comes with a metal applicator and you can immediately feel it's cooling relief and light massaging effect during application. La Roche-Posay recommend you apply this to the eye area in the morning and evening by lightly massaging from the inner to outer corners of your eyes.

I was excited to see that the Pigmentclar line also featured a facial serum. There are so many different benefits to serums and quite frankly I love the idea of using products from the same line together. This product claims to minimise the appearance of dark spots, improve pigmentation and brighten and smooth a dull, uneven complexion with the innovative La Roche-Posay Pigmentclar Serum. This pioneering serum has a lightweight, fluid texture and offers an intensive treatment for dark spot correction, with immediate complexion enhancing benefits and visible evening of the skin much like the Eye variation. The serum contains the potent, patented Pigmentclar complex, a powerful blend of anti-dark spot ingredients to significantly reduce and prevent irregularities. The highest concentrations of LHA ensures gentle yet effective exfoliation, essential for a unified complexion.

The Pigmentclar Serum has been clinically tested, with a proven long-lasting efficacy to effectively treat all 3 types of dark spots, including emerging, established and recurrent. Instantly after use I felt my skin was left fresh, deeply hydrated and luminous. I have really enjoyed incorporating this into my skincare routine and it is great when you can actually see a product working. According to La Roche-Posay after 4 weeks the appearance of dark spots and pigment abnormalities are visibly reduced and after 8 weeks, dark spots appear significantly decreased, with a reduced intensity and colour. The results will be sustained even after application of the serum has ceased, leaving the skin smooth and glowing. Just like the Pigmentclar Eye this is suitable of all skin types and is advised to be used morning and evening to the face and neck. The packaging is so sleek and I love that it has a pump which makes application so much easier without the excess waste of product!

Overall, I have definitely noticed a difference in the appearance and texture of my skin, however, I personally think these are the types of products that you will not see a difference straight away with. You need to constantly be using these for a long period of time to ensure they prevent and repair dark spots...it is never too early to incorporate something like this into your skincare routine. If you would like to give this a try yourself or anything else from the La Roche-Posay line you can pick them up online and in-store at Escentual, Feel Unique and Boots. At £24.50 and £29.50 they are a little on the pricey side but keeping in with my Christmas Gift Guide theme these could also make great gifts, stocking fillers or even a treat for any skincare fanatic.

I hope you all enjoyed this post and I would love to know your thoughts on the new La Roche-Posay Pigmentclar releases. Would you give them a try? What is your favourite La Roche-Posay product? Like always lovelies, if you have any questions, requests or if you just want a chat you can contact me on my social media or leave me a comment below. I love hearing from you all and I make sure to read every single comment…they really make my day!

Christmas Gift Guide | John Frieda Gift Packs

Hello My Lovelies,

I hope you are all doing well? We are coming to the end of November which means December is vastly approaching and Christmas is just around the corner. I thought I would bring you another addition to my 2014 Christmas Gift Guide featuring these fabulous gift packs from John Frieda. When I was asked whether I would be interested in featuring the gift packs in my Christmas Gift Guide I literally jumped at the chance as they are super affordable and would make the perfect stocking filler for any beauty or hair fanatic.

The perfect gift for The Queen of Curls, The Blonde Bombshell and the lover of Big Hair this Christmas, comes from the haircare professionals at John Frieda. With everything that every girl needs for hair perfection, the professionals at John Frieda have created three new Christmas gift packs containing the complete regime to suit different hair needs - for curl control, brightening blonde and glamorous volume. The Queen of Curls gift pack contains four deluxe samples of some of John Frieda's cult and expert picks from their Frizz Ease frizz-fighting regime for ultimate curl control, to leave hair looking smooth and glamorous. The packaging itself is super chic and houses the products in a fun purple and metallic box.

Frizz Ease Dream Curls Shampoo (50ml)

The Dream Curls Shampoo re-awakens and invigorates your natural curl patterns for shapely styling results. The formulation is infused with a styling polymer to help moisturise hair and define and enhance curls from the start of your styling process. You receive a deluxe 50ml sample which will last you a few washes depending on your hair type and length, plus it smells really delicious which is an added bonus.

Frizz Ease Dream Curls Conditioner (50ml)

Just like the shampoo t Dream Curls Conditioner re-awakens, energises and defines your natural curl patterns for soft, smooth curls with lasting curl definition. The formulation is also infused with a styling polymer to help moisturise hair and define and enhance curls. Just like the shampoo you receive a deluxe 50ml sample which should last you a good few washes depending on your hair type and length, plus it has a really nice smelling scent which I am sure will leave your hair smelling just as lovely.

Frizz Ease Original 6 Effects Serum (25ml)

I was excited to see this serum featured in the gift pack as it sounds like a real hair treat product. Hair serums and oils are something that have scared me in the past because they can be over used and cause more harm than good. We have all been there when we have added a little too much product and I am guilty myself haha - I love that it comes with a handy pump which makes usage a lot easier and mess free. However, when used properly they leave your hair looking and feeling incredible! This Original 6 Effects Serum instantly eliminates frizz and humidity for a glossy, silky-smooth finish to your hair...plus it also has the added bonus of a heat protectant.

Frizz Ease Miraculous Recovery Intensive Masque (25ml)

This is the only packet sample in the gift set but you get a good amount of product to try out. The Miraculous Recovery Masque helps hair bounce back from the stresses of blow-drying, styling and daily wear and tear. You can really rescue and treat frizzy hair with this nourishing conditioning formulation with it's perspective formula of milk protein, vitamin E and avocado oil. As an intense treatment I would recommend leaving this in your hair for a good minute to let it work its magic - it saturates, quenches and replenishes to restore balance, softness and shine for smooth, frizz-defying results.

I hope you all enjoyed this post! I am a huge fan of these gift packs and I think they would make great gifts, stocking fillers or even a treat for someone in your life who enjoys hair and beauty or alternatively is a huge fan of the John Frieda haircare line. For £8.00 I think you can not go wrong and if you are in need of a last minute gift idea you can easily pick these up from highstreet stores such as Superdrug, Tesco, Wilkinson's or alternatively online at Feel Unique or Amazon

Superdrug - £6.00 Special Offer
Tesco - £4.00 Special Offer
Wilkinson's - £8.00
Feel Unique - £8.00
Amazon - £4.99 Special Offer

Like always lovelies, if you have any questions, requests or if you just want a chat you can contact me on my social media or leave me a comment below. I love hearing from you all and I make sure to read every single comment…they really make my day!

Glossybox for Harvey Nichols

Hello My Lovelies,

I hope you are all doing well? I have something extremely exciting to share with you today. This season global beauty subscription company Glossybox has partnered up with leading luxury retailer, Harvery Nichols to celebrate Christmas in style with a limited edition box. Glossybox have collaborated with the internationally acclaimed store to bring you the best in beauty from their luxury beauty hall from brands including Laura Mercier, Nars, Elemis, Dermalogica, Rodial, Benefit and OPI just to name a few. The box itself is worth over £150 and contains the perfect product edit for Christmas gifting or just self-spoiling.

A few weeks ago I was actually invited to the launch and breakfast for the limited edition Glossybox. When I saw the invite come through to my inbox I was ecstatic...however, when I saw the date was the same day as my Grandads 70th birthday I knew I wouldn't be able to attend. Whenever there is a big milestone birthday in the family we tend to celebrate and party hard haha. Even though I could not make the actual event, Glossybox very kindly sent me the box to share with you all and I think you are all going to love it! The Glossybox for Harvey Nichols launches today (17th November 2014) and is available for existing (£30) and new subscribers (£35) to purchase.

Also, with the days becoming shorter and the weather becoming more dreary I have had to improvise whilst taking photos for my blog until all of my new lighting arrives. I hope you like the little mix up with the starry lights in the background and I even gave my new lens a try haha.

My Glossybox arrived in a beautiful festive red postage box with the classic Glossybox logo encrusting the entire packaging...when this arrived I knew what it was straight away. Once opened you are greeted to this beautifully packaged silver box adorned with sparkly silver snowflakes and also some leaflets that come with the box to explain the contents etc. The box itself is of great quality and I am sure I will be able to reuse this beauty within my makeup and beauty collection. Inside the box, the selection of products are wrapped in a stunning silver tissue paper, tied with a Harvey Nichols bow with a Glossybox sticker which much resembles a wax seal. The Glossybox for Harvey Nichols is part of The Christmas Edit and everything about the packaging just screams Christmas and luxury. As the packaging is so stunning alone, I opened the tissue paper lining as carefully as possible trying to keep everything intact. Once opened I was amazed by how many products were actually in the box...I mean I couldn't cram them back in after giving everything a try haha. I believe usually you only receive around 5 products, however, Harvey Nichols chose to include 11 must have products that they offer themselves from their department store. Beauty heaven or what?! Within the box your received...

Laura Mercier foundation primer is one of my all time favourites and is also amongst the beauty blogging community. Believe it or not but I actually have not given the original a try before, however, I have gone through a few tubes of the Laura Mercier Radiance Foundation Primer which I love. Without fault this primer does everything I want and more helping me achieve that flawless foundation look...and I have full faith that this one will do the same. If you don't know, the Laura Mercier foundation primer is a lightweight, creamy gel which is applied prior to foundation, prepping the skin and creating and invisible layer that acts as a buffer to outside elements.

The Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream is the first high-performance, marine based anti-ageing cream with a light gel-cream texture. It challenges traditional anti-ageing skincare by combining groundbreaking natural marine ingredients with the very latest in scientific research. This high tech cream penetrates the skin's layers at a deeper level and after just 15 days the skin takes on a smoother, plumper more youthful appearance. I love mini skincare samples as you can really give a new product a try before committing to the full sized product. Elemis is one of my favourite skincare brands so I am excited to give this a proper try. I actually reviewed one of the Elemis Christmas sets which came with four mini samples of their cult products so I have a lovely little collection forming now!

Benefit They're Real 30g | RRP £6.50 (Deluxe Sample)

I think everyone and their dog knows about this cult classic mascara from Benefit. I was so glad to see it featured in the Glossybox for Harvey Nichols as it truly is an amazing product. The hype around this product is 100% true and if you haven't given it a try yet I would highly recommend you do. Benefit's jet black, long-wearing formula won't smudge or dry out and the brush itself has been specially designed to reveal lashes you never knew you had!

Literally my heart skipped a beat when I saw that Nars was included in this Glossybox for Harvery Nochols. I don't know why but I haven't had the chance to branch out and give more of their products a try recently but I have to say they house one of my holy grail foundations; Nars Sheer Glow. When I opened the box to reveal this gorgeous 'Rikugien' shade the beauty blogger in me instantly shouted 'Omg this is the perfect Kylie Jenner lip' - no word of a lie haha! The picture does not do the shade justice but in reality this looks like such a gorgeous 'Velvet Teddy' shade. I have one of the Nars Matte Lip Pencils in 'Roman Holiday' so I am excited to give the satin variation a try!

Macadamia Healing Oil Treatment is a therapeutic oil perfect for all hair types and is especially beneficial to dry and damaged hair. It is instantly absorbed, lightweight and non-greasy and provides intense nourishment, leaving hair ultra-smooth, manageable and shiny. You would't think that a 10ml sample would last you long but trust me it does! I have a couple of the mini samples in my haircare collection and I love treating my hair with it once in a while. I love to smoother my hair in it and leave it to work it's magic a little while before washing my hair. Alternatively, I have recently been adding it to my conditioner for added nourishment!

When you think of OPI the chances are you instantly think of their nail polish line etc...well that is the case for me anyways. I was excited to actually give something new from OPI a try and what better than a hand cream which is perfect for the colder months we are currently having. This rich, soothing blend of shea, cocoa, avocado and almond butters and deep penetrating protein peptides revitalises skin at a cellular level to transform dry and overworked hands. This sounds gorgeous!

Dermalogica is a brand I have heard so much about but never taken the plunge to giving a try myself. I was exited to see it featured within this box. You can maximise night time skin repair to help minimise fine lines and increase luminosity. This supercharged peptide serum stimulates collagen production to firm and renewed skin. Dermalogica recommends using 3 to 4 drops directly to your skin or alternatively mixing it in with your favourite evening face cream for a more refreshing appearance.

Rodial is a brand I have heard tones about but yet again never taken the plunge to try myself. This Rodial Bee Venom Moisturiser is an advanced formula that revitalises and renews for naturally younger looking skin. Working in synergy with plant stem cells it gives skin an overall more youthful appearance. A full sized 50ml tub of this costs £150 so I would definitely recommend giving the sample a try before committing as £150 it a lot to loose out on if the product doesn't react well to you skin. I have tried Bee Venom in the past and I have to say there is something so special it as an ingredient as it works wonders on all skin types.

Show Beauty's luxurious Thermal Protect defends your hair from intense heat, giving un-rivaled protection while providing exceptional style and hold. A specialised complex of hydrolysed wheat protein enhances body and shine as a blend of anti-oxidants and molecular proteins protect against heat, actively promoting greater colour retention, improving the tensile strength and general condition of your hair. I was amazed to see a full sized product of this within the box as alone it costs £35 which is practically the price of the box itself deepening if you are an existing or new customer. As each box houses different variation of the brands featured you could have received wither the Volume Lotion, Volume Mousse, Finishing Spray, Texture Spray, Dry Shampoo, Thickening Mist, Volumising Mist, Thickening Lotion, Pure Treament Oil, Hair Fragrance of the Thermal Mist which is what I received. I am completely satisfied with the variation I received, however, I would love to give the Texture Spray a try and those are my favourites to use on my hair recently!

If you read my blog then you will know how much I love candles and even more so now the winter months are here. When I saw that Harvey Nichols had included one of their mini Candles I just squealed with excitement. The candle itself is part of a set of four mini's that Harvery Nichols sells worth £30 and make the perfect introduction to the candles Harvey Nichols offers. As there are four different variations in the set, within each box you would have received one of the four; Dining, Bathing, Sleeping or Party which is the variation I received. According to the Harvey Nichols website 'Party' is a scented fragrance that will excite your senses with a blend of black pepper, frankincense, cedar wood and patchouli...a definite winter warming scent! What I love about mini candles is how cute they look but also how you can actually give them a try before committing to a full sized etc.

This was the only packet product in the box which I think is incredible as I have seen some subscription boxes in the past offer more foil / packet samples than actual deluxe samples or full sized products. I love using deep repair masks during the winter months so this will come in super handy when giving my hair some TLC. This is a luxurious deep treatment infused with a hydrating blend of certified organic coconut oil, macadamia oil and cocoa seed butter for weightless yet deep hydration. Just like the Moroccan oil I would use this as a treatment prior to washing my hair or alternatively combine the two for a super intense nourishing treatment for my hair.

Overall, I am in complete love with this box and there is not one product throughout the selection that I would not use. I love how the box itself included a mixture of makeup, skincare, body care, hair care and also lifestyle products. The box itself houses some glorious cult classics with the added bonus of some more individual brands that only Harvey Nichols offer. Keeping within the theme of my Christmas gift guides I think this would make the perfect surprise gift for any beauty addict. If you would like to pick yourself one of these glorious limited edition Glossybox for Harvey Nichols up you can register your interest and purchase one by clicking here. I am more than sure that these will be selling out like hotcakes so if you are interested I would go and register straight away to secure your box!

I hope you all enjoyed this post! I would love to know your thoughts on the Glossybox for Harvey Nichols and if it is something you would love to pick up and give a try.
