Impulse Back To The 90s

Hello My Lovelies,

I hope you are all doing well and are having a fabulous week so far! Today's post is something I was super excited to get involved in. I was recently contacted by Impulse to take part in their back to the 90's challenge and I couldn't say no...I absolutely love Impulse and I am always up for a little challenge haha. Impulse has revamped their retro 90's fragrance 'Vanilla Kisses' to mark Superdrug's 50th anniversary and it will be available on shelves for a limited amount of time. For the challenge Impulse wanted me to re-create a favourite 90s look with a modern twist. They supplied me with an inspiration box that you can see below which included a Topshop shopping voucher, some 90s inspired goodies and a sample of 'Vanilla Kisses'.

The Outfit

Shirt - Topshop* (similar here) | Crop Tee - Topshop* | Jeans - Primark | Shoes - Converse | Sunglasses - Rayban Wayfarer

After much deliberation I decided to opt for a more casual grungy style with a modern twist. I took inspiration from Saved By The Bell, Clueless, my Mum's advice and merged it all together. It is not something I would usually sway towards but I absolutely love how it turned out and I think I might just add a little more 90s touch to my wardrobe this fall. I stepped a little outside my comfort zone wearing a crop tee but I am so glad I just went for it...I just need to stop being body conscious and go with the flow! Please excuse how ill I look...I have a nasty bug at the moment but still wanted to get this post up for you all! You can't really tell in the pictures but for my makeup I tried to go for more of a matte feel. I am usually all about the highlighter, shimmer and sparkle so it killed me not having to put any on haha. I opted to used my Make Up For Ever Face and Body Foundation for a flawless base, Naked Basics palette to create a neutral matte eye, my Sleek Face Form palette in light to contour my face slightly and my beloved MAC Creme Cup for a pinky nude lip.

The Fragrance

Vanilla Kisses* stands true to its name and gives off a gorgeous sweet vanilla scent with a modern twist. The classic 90s scent is making its own comeback and this time, it's had a modern makeover, making it the ideal fragrance to match any on-trend 90s summer ensemble. The nostalgic scent, which has been re-launched to celebrate Superdrugs 50th anniversary features fruity top notes of apple and peach. The fragrance favourite has been reformulated to include real perfume oils, giving it a fresh modern update and making it the perfect quality for an on-the-go boost that will last for hours. Redesigned by internationally renowned fragrance experts, including the nose of Dior and Calvin Klein, the entire Impulse collection features twelve designer fragrances, for every occasion, mood or style. The high quality scents contain real perfume oils ensuring your scent lasts well into the evening. Impulse Vanilla Kisses is available exclusively at Superdrug, RRP £1.99*, for a limited time. If you were and still are a fan of Vanilla Kisses I would snatch one up whilst you can, for £1.99 you can't go wrong!

I hope you all enjoyed this post! I would love to know what you think of the outfit I put together and how you would style your very own 90s look! If you do like my look I would love you forever if you headed over to my Instagram (@SophiaMeola) and gave my entry a like! Like always lovelies, if you have any questions, requests or if you just want a chat you can contact me on my social media or leave me a comment below. I love hearing from you all and I make sure to read every single comment…they really make my day!

Love Me Beauty Box | August 2014

Hello My Lovelies,

I hope you are all doing well and had a lovely bank holiday Monday! Sunday night I returned from a weekend stay at Reading Festival. I think it deserves a whole post in itself so I won't ramble too much about it but ohh my goodness it was incredible! I am paying for it a little bit now as I have come down with a really awful sickness bug / cold...gross I know haha! I haven't got time to be sick right now as I have so much going on at work and at home so I literally need every minute of the day.

It is that time of the month again when I bring you the brand new Love Me Beauty box, I know it is coming at you a little late this month but I have been away for the majority of August...Never-the-less it is here now and I hope you enjoy! This is my fourth month trying out the subscription box and I am still absolutely loving them...I am always so impressed with the content. If you are unsure who Love Me Beauty are, they are a monthly subscription box priced at only £10 per box (plus p&p) and every month they contain four to five products from various beauty and lifestyle brands which can be seen on their website here. Each month, you will receive an email to let you know that the boutique is open and that is when you get to choose which box you would like to try. You can head straight over and choose between the beauty box menus available. Give or take each menu will have 1 to 2 star products and 3 travel sized samples. You have the option to sign up for 1 month, 3 months, 9 months or even 12 months and you can cancel your subscription at any time or even skip a month with no charge if nothing in that months box takes your fancy.

This month I decided to go with the third menu option again. Like every single month I am always so torn between the menus as I am always so indecisive about which box to try. In the past I have always received five product in my box, this month there were only four. Love Me Beauty say it does vary between four and five, however, I think this is down to the fact that there are four full sized products in this months box rather than samples.

Oriflame Swedish Spa Beauty Wonder Oil | RRP £8.45

Last year I was introduced to the world of wonder oil treatments and since then I have loved incorporating them into my beauty routine whenever I can. This Oriflame Swedish Spa Beauty Wonder Oil  is a lavish, versatile multi-use oil with Hydracare+, antioxidant, tonic ginger oil, nourishing coconut oil, vitamin E and sweet almond oil to beautify and improve texture. This wonder oil can be used for massages, moisturising, bathing or even as a pre-shampoo treatment to revitalise your hair. Who doesn't love multi-use products?! So far I am really loving this product, it smells divine and the floral accent on the packaging is so cute!

Marsk Mineral Eye Shadow in Lucky Penny | RRP £14.49

Can you notice a reoccurring theme with rose gold and my blog? Well just read my little bio on the right hand side and you will understand haha. The picture is not doing the shade justice because 'Lucky Penny' (adorable name) is a coppery rose gold shade...the kind of shade that I loveee! Marsk is a completely new brand to me to give a try but like I always say the whole point of subscription boxes are to introduce you to products you might not necessarily have given a try. The Marsk mineral eye shadows are 100% natural, mineral based loose powder that are strictly cruelty free and available in a range of striking shades that offer endless colour possibilities for a professional makeup effect. Pigments are fabulous because you can use them in so many ways. You can use pigments wet or dry to take your look from subtle to dramatic in a blink of an eye. The only thing with pigments I always worry about is the fall out so use sparingly lovelies!

Mirabella Lip Luster Liner in Shy | RRP £10.50

I only own a few lip liners in my makeup collection so I was delighted to see one pop up in this months box...all of the shades available were beautiful but 'Shy' really stood out to me. Yet again the brand Mirabella is completely new to me but having a browse through their website they have a lovely line of beauty products and they are based in LA my favourite place in the entire world! When first opening the lip liner I was completely blown away by the beautiful shade and also how creamy and pigmented it was. The shade 'Shy' is a gorgeous pinky nude shade perfect for everyday or to glam up an evening look with a Kim K inspired lip!

A La Carte Smudge Proof Eyebrow Definer in Blonde | RRP £23.00

A La Carte is a brand I have heard of throughout the blogging community but have never got round to trying. You know my obsession with brow products lately so I was extremely excited to give this one a try. I was a little wary at first as each box contained the same shade 'Blonde' but it does come of more of a light brown shade which matches me quite nicely. I have quite fair brownish hair and I struggle to find a brow product that matches me without being too dark or too light. I would say this is a close match to the Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil in Hazel. I had never used a felt tip like pen to fill in my brows before so it was an experience, however, A La Carte mention how you can create the optical illusion of individual brow hairs with this pen...sounds fancy! Either way I will definitely be getting my use out of this product...I use a felt tip liner from Collection Love religiously so it will be nice to mix things up and see how this works as a liner too!

So, this are the goodies included in this months subscription box, what do you think? The value this month was again amazing...considering you are receiving all full sized products and the A La Carte Eyebrow Definer is £23 alone you are getting an array of goodies for £10.00. Yet again, I already can't wait for next months box to be released! If you like the look of this months box you can still get gold of one for yourself to try here. I hope you all enjoyed looking into this months Love Me Beauty box! Like always lovelies, if you have any questions, requests or if you just want a chat you can contact me on my social media or leave me a comment below. I love hearing from you all and i make sure to read every single comment…they really make my day!

Resultime Regenerating Collagen Gel #4SleepsFabSkin

Hello My Lovelies,

I hope you are all doing well and had a fabulous weekend! You all know how much I love my pampering Sundays so I thought for todays post I would talk to you about a new skincare product I have been testing out. I am still out in Spain so I haven't really had much time to pamper myself but when I get home I will be using this fabulous product again to recover my skin from all of the sun exposure and dehydration. Resultime is a brand I was introduced to not so long ago and I was recently contacted about their Regenerating Collagen Gel and their #4SleepsToFabSkin challenge. Well, I am always up for a challenge so I thought I would be fun to gt involved and see how the product would work for me.

Resultime was a completely new brand for me to give a try and I was excited see how it would work for my skin. My skincare routine is something I like to mix up every now and again because i find products can stop working on my skin…so weird I know! However, I do like to keep things simple and this gel is a multi-tasking hero so can work as so many parts of your skincare routine all in one. Resultime are one of the best kept beauty secrets and is a results-driven sophisticated skincare brand who offer a complete salon treatment range and homecare line. A focus on constant innovation allows them to offer a comprehensive array of high-performance treatments and products to give you the means to achieve better skin for life. They are in the process of creating patented active ingredients such as Vectorised Micro-Collagen, to offer treatments and products that correct and maintain your skin. Their mission is to offer the mean to achieve beautiful skin for life; through products and treatments and through education. I haven't heard much about the brand previously but doesn't the above sound pretty incredible?! Whilst doing some research I stumbled across some dermatologists who actually recommend using Resultime products…knowing that a professional is recommending them makes me want to try it even more!

Resultime call the Regenerating Collagen Gel their star product and it has been seen in magazines such a Vogue and is favoured by an array of celebrity makeup artists. This universal gel fights all signs of skin aging, using their patented ingredients 'Vectorised Micro-Collagen', alongside 14 other key skin molecules. Even thought I have just hit my 20's I have always been brought up knowing that you can never start early enough to combat ageing. Using an anti-aging product here and there can only help fight and pro-long the effects and keep your skin looking great for longer! The Regenerating Collagen Gel smoothes, plumps, hydrates, firms and repairs the skin...it does so much and it is only a simple gel formulation! It has the ability to be used as a serum before your creams, a gel moisturiser, a sleek mask or an after-sun mask. Also, it is perfect for the whole family to use on holiday as it soothes sunburn and will also help repair scar tissue (how perfect considering I am away on holiday at the moment).

I was recently invited to take part in the #4SleepsToFabSkin challenge. The idea behind the challenge is that you cleanse and exfoliate your skin as you normally would and then apply a thin layer of the Regenerating Collagen Gel massaging it into the skin thoroughly. You then apply a second thin layer and then a thicker third layer just before bed also. The gel is so versatile and gentle to be used even on your lips and around the sensitive areas around the eyes so you can slather it on without the worry of it irritating the sensitive areas of your face. So, the idea is to apply the gel this way for four consecutive nights to hopefully see a difference in you skin. Applying three payers to your skin you do notice a slight tacky feel but it is nothing uncomfortable or something that will not dry eventually. I just make sure not to touch my face whilst the product is still drying on my skin. If I had to compare it to anything I would say it is extremely similar to the Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream!

Even though I took part in the #4SleepsFabSkin challenge I definitely feel this would work as a great evening moisturiser, lip balm and even a primer before makeup. This rose tinted refreshing smelling gel claims to stimulate production of collagen in skin cells, which regenerates the upper layer of skin to provide plump, hydration and a reduction in appearance of fine lines. So did the Regenerating Collagen Gel actually work for me? Overall, I think the gel is an incredible product and after researching into it more I think it is a great product to have on hand constantly for the whole family. It is a great multi-tasking hero product that is perfect for travel, festivals or even at home for a pampering session. Each night I noticed my skin looked notably smoother, hydrated and plumper. After the four nights were up I could definitely see a difference in my skin...It gave me an almost dewy effect and I do love it when my skin is looking glowing and healthy. This is a product definitely worth a try if your skin is in need of a pick me up, for £47.00 it could be seen on the pricey side but I definitely feel this product goes a long way and is worth every penny as it works amazingly on the skin. I used this prior to my graduation in July to get my skin looking amazing for the day and I am also planning on using it again after my vacation. I hope you all enjoyed this skincare post, i would love to know your thoughts on the Resultime Regenerating Collagen Gel. If you have a specific skin concern then you can check out other products that Resultime have to offer here. Like always lovelies, if you have any questions, requests or if you just want a chat you can contact me on my social media or leave me a comment below. I love hearing from you all and i make sure to read every single comment…they really make my day!

Skin Chemists Lip Plump

Hello My Lovelies,

I hope you are all doing well! Yay for it finally being Friday and for the weekend just being around the corner. This is my last full weekend out here in Spain so we are planning on doing as much as we can. I have a busy August and September this year...I head home next week and then I go to Reading Festival, then to Ibiza and back out here to Spain after my surgery (whilst working full time in between)! I thought considering I have had a crazy year with University I would treat myself and go a little OTT, even though I will be away a lot this year...I most definitely will still be blogging and bringing you lots of new content :)

I was first introduced to Skin Chemists back in January where I had the opportunity to try out and review the famous Been Venom Facial Oil. I was so impressed with the facial oil I couldn't say no to trying out other products throughout the Skin Chemists line. If you fancy taking a peek at the Bee Venom Facial Oil review you can do so by clicking here. The facial oil is a revolutionary product, it contains real Bee Venom as the active ingredients, to produce a fantastic, noticeable, anti-wrinkle effect. It is the first of it's kind, fusing the efficacy and potency of the proven results of Bee Venom with the luxury and comfort of an oil, it provides skin-tightening, toning and brightening benefits. Something I have always read and have learnt from older generations is that you can never start too early to banish those pesky wrinkles we are all bound to have one day…sobs!

Today we are talking about lips and getting that plump Kylie Jenner look without the commitment of actual lip fillers. Fortunately I was blessed with quite full lips, however, it doesn't hurt to add a little more plumpness if you want to haha. Recently Skin Chemists introduced me to their Lip Plump and I thought I would share my thoughts with you all.

There are 1000's of lip glosses on the market, however, how many of them actually contain active ingredients and the benefits of a skincare regime? With the Skin Chemists Lip Plump you can achieve a killer pout whilst still ensuring maximum plumpness. When first applying the Lip Plump I noticed a minty esk scent to the formulation and I have always been told that mint is a natural lip plumper...that is why it is incorporated in so many lip product formulations. I am not 100% sure if it is true or it is my brain telling me it is actually working when it's not...either way I quite like the minty tang and I have read it has plumping properties. At the first instance I noticed a slight tingling to my lips, however, I did not notice an instant change. I find after around 30 minutes you will notices your lips are more plump and fuller, however, it is more of a natural boost to your lips which I prefer rather than a shocking change. There is Hyaluronic Acid in the formula which boosts natural levels within the skin, and it is used within the body to store water and influence soft tissue functions. There is also Benzyl Nicotinate and Sodium Hyaluronate which aid in the ful plumping effect.

According to Skin Chemist, the Lip Plump combines the benefits of fuller lips with the added extra of it being part of your skincare routine. They mention how the lip plump provides you with more volume, the reduction of fine lines whilst enhancing your lip contours and overall protecting your lips. Like everything I think this product will work differently on everyone, however, one think I definitely know is it would make a gorgeous lipgloss. However, for the £79.95 price tag you would want the product to do exactly what it says it is going to do and give you fuller lips. I prefer to apply the lip plump onto dry lips around 30 minutes before applying any other lip products. After waiting for the product to work it's magic I like to apply my lip product of choice and top it off with the lip plump again so it can work throughout the day or evening also.

Overall, I quite like this product and how it enhances my natural lips. It is not something I would use everyday but definitely on nights out or for special events. I love how the packaging looks very sleek and luxurious. The silver packaging reflects well with all of the other products throughout the Skin Chemists line. I know lip plumping products are not for everyone but I thought I would share my thoughts with you all. I hope you all enjoyed this post, I would love to know your thoughts the the Skin Chemists and the Lip Plump. Like always lovelies, if you have any questions, requests or if you just want a chat you can contact me on my social media or leave me a comment below. I love hearing from you all and I make sure to read every single comment…they really make my day!

Elemis Frangipani Monoi Body Cream

Hello My Lovelies,

I hope you are all doing well and are having a fabulous week so far? Like I have mentioned in my previous posts I have been out in Spain for a few weeks now and I have loved relaxing and forgetting everything for a while. I have loved the no-makeup days, messy top knots and the gorgeous sunshine.  On the theme of relaxation I thought I would share with you one of my new luxurious pampering treats that I am truly loving right now. Elemis very kindly sent me this recently to celebrate the 10th Anniversary of the Frangipani Monoi Collection and I couldn't resist not sharing it with you all.

After being introduced to Elemis last year and having the opportunity to try out a range of their products I have to say they are a brand I love to use and really trust as they always use incredible ingredients that seem to react well to my skin. Elemis never seem to disappoint when it comes to their products and brand new releases so I was really excited to give the Frangipani Monoi Body Cream a try. Also, I don't know what it is but I can develop a slight obsession to packaging of products...if it looks pretty then chances are I am sold even more (so sad I know)...I mean look at the gorgeous limited edition packaging Elemis are offering...those Frangipani flowers are so pretty!

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the multi-award-winning Frangipani Monoi range, Elemis launches their NEW Frangipani Monoi Body Cream showcasing a limited edition design that pays homage to the beautiful Frangipani flower. I love body cream and make sure to use it religiously within my morning and evening routines. Whilst being on vacation I have been using it so much more, layering it on to ensure I lock in lots of moisture after being out in the sun all day long. This decadent body cream leaves skin delicately fragranced with the warm exotic fragrance of Frangipani and transports the mind to a tropical paradise. Sounds perfect right?!

Last year I reviewed the Frangipani Monoi Salt Glow and I was and still am obsessed with it. If you want to take a look at that review you can do so by clicking here. Like the Salt Glow the Body Cream  has similar ingredients to keep within the Frangipnai theme. This luxurious body cream is enriched with exquisite macadamia oil and lipid-rich sesame oil to leave skin deeply hydrated and silky smooth. The unique infusion of exotic Tahitian monoi oil, a blend of tiara flowers soaked in coprah oil, is fragranced with frangipani flowers to leave skin feeling beautifully soft, supple and delicately scented. The scent is incredibly yummy and lingers on the skin for hours.

The packaging keeps in line with the rest of the Frangipani range, however, with the 10th anniversary Elemis decided to incorporate the Frangipani flower to create a limtied edition packaging...so if you love the packaging as much as I do then you should snatch one up whilst you still can! For £24.00 it could be seen more on the pricey side, however, with Elemis I am always willing to pay that little extra more as the products are amazing and the formulations never incorporate anything nasty!

I hope you all enjoyed this post, I would love to know what your thoughts are on the Frangipani Monoi Body Cream. What are your favourite body creams to use? Like always lovelies, if you have any questions, requests or if you just want a chat you can contact me on my social media or leave me a comment below. I love hearing from you all and I make sure to read every single comment…they really make my day!

Flamingo Candles | Macaroon & Almond High Tea

Hello My Lovelies,

I hope you are all doing well and are having a fabulous week so far! I am still out in Spain and I am really enjoying escaping everything and soaking up some sunshine...I really needed it after having an insanely stressful year with everything that has been going on and what else is to come. Something I always adore when I am feeling a little stressed out or not myself are candles. I always love talking about candles over on my blog as I literally have a huge obsession with them. I love how they make you feel, the scents they give off and how cute they look on display anywhere in a room. When I was contacted by the Flamingo Candles team about reviewing a candle from their new High Tea Collection I couldn't say no...I mean just look how cute it is!

If you are not sure who Flamingo Candles are, they are a fresh new brand offering fun and original collections of handmade, organic candles. Quirky contemporary designs, always making sure to incorporate their dapper friend Florrie the Flamingo. Each candle is handed-pured in Britain to the highest quality. Each candle is made with soybeans, natural cotton wicks and are all packed with unique, scrumptious fragrances. I was asked to choose a scent from the new High Tea collection and as soon as my eyes hit the Macaroon and Almond High Tea scent I just knew that was the candle for me. Macaroon and Almond is not a typical scent I would usually go for but I thought it would be lovely to try something new and see how it compare to the ever so famous Jo Malone Sweet Almond and Macaroon candle. When you first open the jar you are welcomed with a delightfully sugary Macaroon and Almond accord with dominant notes of sweet cherry and a hint of smooth coconut. It actually instantly reminded me of a bakewell tart and it smelt so incredible yummy! I think this would be an amazing dupe for the Jo Malone scent at only a fraction of the price!

The Flamingo Candles High Tea collection celebrates the great British teatime tradition of freshly cut sandwiches, indulgent pastries, sweet macaroons, delicious scones with jam and clotted cream, fruity preserves, all washed with a selection of loose teas. You can choose from five delectable fragrances to capture the sweet aroma of the tea room...Macaroon and Sweet Almond, Earl Grey and Cucumber, Lemon Curd, Darjeeling Tea and Blackcurrant Jam. How yummy do they all sound?!

Overall, I am completely in love with these candles and I am so intrigued to see how the others scents smell after giving this one a try. I think for £12 it is completely worth the extra splurge and would even make the perfect gift. I love how the packaging looks and how it looks sitting on my vanity...the cute flamingo on each candle jar is so lovely and you instantly know that it is part of the Flamingo Candles range. I also love how once the jars are empty they could be glammed up for makeup and beauty storage with some glitter, beads and ribbons! So far the burning time has been incredible, Flamingo Candles mention that you should get 50 hours and I think that is pretty much spot on.

I hope you all enjoyed this post! I would love to know what you think about Flamingo Candles and if you would give the Macaroon and Almond High Tea scent a try. If you would like to take a peek through the website you can do so by clicking here. Like always lovelies, if you have any questions, requests or if you just want a chat you can contact me on my social media or leave me a comment below. I love hearing from you all and I make sure to read every single comment…they really make my day!

The No Bump Bobble

Hello My Lovelies,

I hope you are all doing well and had a fabulous weekend! I am still out in Spain and one thing I have found incredibly handy whilst lounging by the pool, going to the beach or even in the evenings is having a good hair tie. Hair ties and I have a love hate relationship as I have quite long and thick hair so I am constantly trying to find some that will hold my hair securely without breaking. Sometimes you will see I have hair ties on my wrists in my Instagram pictures...the struggle is strong, I always need a spare on hand haha.

I was recently introduced to The No Bump Bobble by the lovely Elysia who is also a blogger over at the Little Beauty Blogg. The No Bump Bobble is a bobble that is completely bump free, snag free and kind to hair with the additional aspect of looking extremely pretty on your wrist. Each bobble is lovingly hand made by Elysia out of high quality durable fabric that is available in a vast range of different colours and patterns.

I have heard so much about these fabric bobbles and I have always been so intrigued by them. Whilst in Los Angeles last year I picked up a couple in Sephora and I thought they were amazing. I was offered the chance to pick 5 designs by Elysia to give a try and I can not tell you enough how happy I am with the styles I chose. I think these are just as or even better than the ones offered by Sephora and I think it is fabulous that there is a local UK website that you can order from which ships so quickly.

Without fail these bobbles hold up my hair in every style I chose from a high ponytail to a messy bun. The bobbles feel extremely secure and wrap around the desired amount of times I like...I hate having a loose bun or ponytail. I love wearing them on my wrist as an accessory throughout the day and they are designed so no one will ever know it is a bobble. I also love how they are not tight on the wrist, I really hate it when a hair bobble is so tight and it causes blood restriction and leaves a mark. You can also tell the materials are of high quality because on the chunky purple rainbow variation the glitter stays intact on the bobble without causing glitter to fall out everywhere. Also, none of the bobbles have come undone at the tie or frayed which is always a plus :)

For £3 plus the cost of postage and packaging, you can pick n' mix a bundle of 5 bobbles in whatever colour, pattern or design of your choice. Recently The No Bump Bobble have expanded their line and are now offering the option to purchase pre-made bundles and even headbands. The possibilities are endless.

Overall, I am extremely impressed and I cannot wait to get more use out of them and widen my collection. I have my eye on a few more sparkly styles, also some new neon colours and a My Little Pony style! I hope you all enjoyed this post, I would love to know what you think about the bobbles and if you would give them a try. If you would like to take a browse through the website you can do so my clicking here. Like always lovelies, if you have any questions, requests or if you just want a chat you can contact me on my social media or leave me a comment below. I love hearing from you all and I make sure to read every single comment…they really make my day!
