10 Top Tips For Starting Your Morning Right

Hello My Lovelies,

I hope you are all doing well and are having a wonderful weekend so far. I have been struggling with a little motivation lately and I've come to the conclusion that it is simply because I might not be starting my morning off like I should. I hate not having a productive day and I have no one but myself to blame for that but we are all human and sometimes these things happen. So, I though today I would share with you some of my top tips for starting your morning off right so you have a productive day. I know for a fact that if I wake up and do these steps then my day is going to be a lot more productive and positive. I really hope you enjoy these tips and please feel free to leave any additional suggestions in the comments below.

1. Set Your Clothes Out The Night Before
This is one of my favourite tips and one that saves me so much time in the morning. If I skip this step then I could literally be standing in my airdrome for a good 10-15 minutes deciding what I should wear. Getting your clothes ready the night before means you can have a few extra minutes in bed in the morning and it is one less thing to worry about.

2. Let's Detox
When I first wakeup in the morning I am not much of a tea or coffee drinker, I usually prefer something a little lighter like hot water with lemon and fresh mint. There are so many benefits to drinking this first thing in the morning; it helps flush away all of the toxins in your body, it promotes healthy skin and gives your immune system a little boost.

3. Wake Up A Little Earlier Than Normal
I have started to do this recently and it has definitely helped me in my Monday - Friday morning work routine. I set my alarm for 5am and then I allow it to snooze for around 30 minutes to gradually allow my body to wake up. That 30 minutes snooze time has really helped and honestly, it makes me less grumpy in the morning haha.

4. Digital Detox
Let's face it, when procrastination calls the first thing we probably do it grab our phones. I'll hold my hands up and say that sometimes I don't get out of bed on time and it's probably because I'm on my phone scrolling through Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest and everything else haha. To me a digital detox in the morning is all about allowing myself a good 10 minutes to browse then putting my phone down and not look at it again until I'm ready or actually need my phone for something etc. I am very digital focused when it comes to my full time job and of course when it comes to blogging so I don't think it is something I could cut off completely...unless, I was allowing myself a full 24 hour detox etc which I do from time to time.

5. Let There Be Light
This one is a little harder in the winter months when the mornings are super miserable and dark but honestly, sunlight is the best thing for when you wake up in the morning. I really want to invest in one of those Lumie Bodyclocks but for the time being I usually grab my iPhone which allows my eyes to gradually be introduced to light before switching on my bedside lamp. Guaranteed, if I don't do this in the morning then I will walk around like a zombie haha.

6. Exercise, Exercise, Exercise
I love a quick 10 minute workout in the morning because then you are pretty much done for the rest of the day haha. Whether it's a 10 minute hit session, 10 minutes of cardio, walking on the treadmill or lifting a few weights there are so many benefits to early morning exercise. I feel like I can do pretty much anything after a little exercise in the morning, it just wakes up the body, kick starts your metabolism, it'll help you sleep better in the evening and overall it helps with routine and discipline.

7.  Get Ready
This is the part of the routine where you would follow your regular beauty routine :)

8. Set A Goal For The Day
In between all of this, maybe whilst doing your makeup, allow yourself a moment to thinking of a goal for the day. Don't get too consumed by this though, it's a fun way to get your mind ticking for the day, so don't worry if you don't achieve what you set out to do. You can read my 10 quotes to live by here that will help with goals and encouragement.

9. Leave On Time
Always strive to leave on time or even 5 minutes before you normally would. Whether it's for your morning commute to work, for an appointment or even meeting friends you'll thank yourself later.

10. Don't Skip Breakfast
Skipping out on breakfast is one of the worst things you can do. Firstly, it is the most important meal of the day and it helps wakeup your body and metabolism. Secondly, if you skip breakfast then the chances of you snacking on things you don't want to are heightened and then you might not have as much energy as you normally would. I know if I don't have a good breakfast in the morning I am still quite lethargic and then I feel sluggish and less motivated throughout the day...#HANGRY. You can ready about some quick and easy healthy breakfast ideas here.

  1. I love doing a quick workout in the morning too - I get up a bit earlier and even just 10-15 minutes makes such a difference to the rest of the day! Breakfast and coffee is always key!

  2. Because of my health I need help with getting up and ready but I always have my clothes out for the next day and my skin care lined up too, we are limited to time before Simon leaves for work and it really helps just doing those little things xxx

  4. I always set my clothes out the night before as I'm more indecisive in the morning so like you could be standing there for 10-15 minutes figuring out what to wear haha!

  6. Setting your clothes out the night before is a brilliant tip. I waste so much time and energy in the morning trying on different clothes and I usually end up wearing the same skinny jeans and black top anyway!

  7. I would recommend running every morning about one hour. Then I take a shower. Big breakfast and it is enough for all day energy.
