Get The Look | Cat Eye Makeup Tutorial with The Body Shop UK

Hello My Lovelies,

Hope you are all doing well and are having a fabulous week so far! I have quite an exciting post for you all today which has been in works for a while now. The Body Shop UK emailed me about collaborating with them for their blog and i literally jumped at the chance at getting involved - The Body Shop is a store i regularly shop at and i have a few holy grail items from them that i literally cannot live without. My cousin Carmela who also runs a blog with her sister Rossana called 'Goodie Rush' is literally obsessed with The Body Shop and whenever we are out we always make sure to stop by and take a browse in store.

Autumn is all about standing out while wrapped up in your winter woolies, and one of the must have looks for this season is the cat eye flick, which can be created simply but adds drama to even the simplest of outfits. I guest blogged for The Body Shop and created a look with a selection of makeup goodies which you can take a peek at by clicking here. The hot look for AW13 is the classic cat eye flick, which has been seen across the runways and is seriously in. When i thought of a cat eye makeup, Cara Delevingne sprung to mine...I remember seeing a picture of her with a super dramatic version of the look: blod eyebrows and a bright pink lip, so i thought i would use this as inspiration for what i am going to create.

Step 1

As we are focusing on the eyes, i have already applied my base makeup and a pink lipstick to create the starting point for my look. We are working with both eyeshadow and liner, and i wanted to make sure the makeup would stay in place all day long and not budge, so i decided to apply a small amount of Lightning Touch Touche Lumiere | #01 | £14* to my eyelids to create a base for the shadows. This is a great method that will give you a slight shimmer to the overall finished (i also applied a small amount under my eyes to help conceal my pesky dark circles). A good tip is to use a foundation brush to pat the Lightening Touch into the skin after dabbing on with the built in applicator.

Step 2

After creating the base, i took the Colour Crush Eyeshadow | #105 Oh, Honey | £7* and applied this as a wash of colour all over my eyelid and up to my brow bone. This is a beautiful pearlescent honey shade which gives you a 'your skin but better' look to the eyes and makes them look more wide awake and striking. I then took Colour Crush Eyeshadow | #110 Sand By Me | £7* (which is a fabulous matte shade) and applied this into the crease of my eyelids to create a little more depth, as the look predominantly focuses on the eyeliner. The combination of the two eyeshadows helps create a perfect classic eye ready for the next step.

Step 3

I then took the and carefully created quite a dramatic winged flick. I have always had a love hate relationship with it as I have never come across one I feel actually works for me and is easy to apply. By using an extremely pigmented liquid liner like this one it really aids with completing the look. I then let the liquid liner dry and then took the creamyand applied to both my waterline and tight-line only making sure to go 2/3 of the way in...this way the eyes still look open and awake looking. The liner is dual ended and comes with a sponge which is perfect for smudging out the liner for a more smokey effect, I personally didn’t use this on this occasion as I wanted It to stay clean cut for a more classic look.

I then took the Liquid Eyeliner | #01 Black | £9* and carefully created quite a dramatic cate eye flick. I have always had a love hate relationship with liquid liner as i have never come across one i feel actually works for me and is easy to apply. By using an extremely pigmented liquid liner like this one, it really aids the process and me me feel more confident in the application. A tip i have been using which has really been helping me with my eyeliner application is by firstly drawing an extended line at the corner of my eye as a quidline, i then bring the flick in to join with my lash liner, then i create a line across my lash line and connect everything and voila. This has been a great method i use every time i apply eyeliner noew, and i feel it really has helped

I then let the eyeliner dry before taking the Carbon Black Eye Definer Crayon Khol | Noir | £9* in black and applying it to my waterline only making sure to go 2/3 of the way in...this way the eyes still look open and awake. The liner is dial ended and come with a liner softner which is perfect for smudging out the line for a more smokey effect (I personally didn't use it this time as i wanted it to stay clean cut for a more classic look).

Step 4

Last, but certainly not least, i curled my eyelashed with eyelash curlers and then applied a generous coat of the Super Volume Mascara | #01 Black | £10*. This is the first time i have used this particular mascara and i am extremely impressed with it. I loved how it helped with making my lashes look longer and fuller. It was a real show stopper for me, and it now has a place in my everyday makeup bag. I love how a few coats of your favourite mascara can just finish off a makeup look.

That is the finished Cat Eye makeup look and i hope you enjoyed my first ever pictorial post. I personally feel the makeup look was extremely easy and quick to achieve and is quite a classic look which could be worn with a wide range of outfits and to different occasions. I definitely feel it could be transformed to a more dramatic look by adding a darker shade into the outer third of the eye for a more smokey effect...the possibilities are endless.

I would love to know what you think about the makeup look! If you would like to take a peek through my post on The Body Shop UK's website you can do so by clicking here.
